The spoken form is easier to learn and recall (I think) than the written variant. This method has a product-oriented objective according to which the learners (students) are supposed to develop translation skills. Why does spelling appear on the one hand to be simple, something any reasonably intelligent person should be able to do, but on the other hand, cause so many students academic grief?
