kayfabe : Grocery Eats tackles turning cereal into beer. So this month my homebrew club decided to kickoff a Iron Chef style bracket competition to see who could feature non-traditional brewing ingredients in a beer.  Of course the ingredients were a secret and we have to produce the beer at the next club meeting in November.  I was all over this shit. My challenge: generic Fruity Pebbles

Hop culture in California circa 1900

These days “Hop Culture in California” means bitter beers, beers with lots of hop flavors and aromas, and this time of year beers brewed with fresh hops. But in 1900 it was the title of Farmer’s Bulletin No. 115 from the U.S.

    Sloppy Joes

This is our favorite sloppy joe recipe, and it well feeds our family! I generally double it so I can put 1/2 in the freezer for another meal, but if you don’t want to do that you can just make it as is. If you do want to make some to freeze for later – 4lbs of hamburger is all I can generally brown in my large electric skillet so I brown two batches, then once drained, I put all 8lbs back in the skillet, and add the other ingredients until heated through. Sloppy Joes Ingredients: 4
