The Garrett Oliver Interview: Sorachi Ace variation planned for bottles

Peter has been writing reviews over at Simply Beer for a while now though it was a video he shot in December that really caught my attention. Quick note: I recently discovered Peter was actually the first one with the news that Stone Brewing , Dogfish Head , and Victory Brewing would be collaborating. He interviewed Dogfish Head’s Sam Calagione this past fall and Sam spilled the beans.

Fun With Science: Beer Can Robug

This morning, my son Porter and I finally got around to building the Kids Lab science project that he got for his birthday back in September. It was a Soda Can Robug, but since we’re a soda-free household, we used a beer can instead. Porter showing off his Beer Can Robug, made with Ukiah Pilsner

    Pete Brown On Beer Marketing

While you should know Pete Brown from his books, especially what is arguably the best beer book of the year, Hops and Glory, he began his career in marketing and worked on several high-profile ad campaigns for well-known beer brands. On Wednesday in the UK’s Daily Mail, Pete had an interesting article giving his perspective

    Hindenburg Beer Auctioned For £10,000

The bottle of Lowenbrau beer that survived the crash of the Hindenburg, that I wrote about on Tuesday, was auctioned earlier today, fetching the sum of £9,400, but “with buyer’s premium, the bottle will cost the purchaser £10,810,” or around $18.034. This Is Wiltshire, like most accounts, is claiming “[t]he world record price for a

FDA Gives Alcohol/Caffeine Drinks 30 Days To Prove It’s Safe

The FDA announced today that they’ve sent a letter to almost 30 manufacturers of alcohol drinks that also contain caffeine. The FDA is giving these companies 30 days to essentially prove that they’re safe. The move is undoubtedly motivated by a bullying letter sent to the FDA in September by 18 state Attorneys General.

Let’s Boogie on down to the Boogie Café

It was a cold, rainy November Friday evening when my Japanese friend, rock and roll and tattoo brother Kenny Shangrila took me to the Boogie Café in Yokohama. On my way from Bangkok to Chicago via Japan, I had a three-day layover in Japan where I would be hanging out with Kenny.

Nightly Ramble: Another Root Beer Edition

Welcome to the most intense nightly read on the sphere… the BitsBlog Nightly Ramble LIBERMAN PLAYS THE GAME: H e now says he’ll vote against the so-called “Public Option” … (What is Queen Nancy calling it now, the “Consumer Option”?)  _ . Well, of course the libtards are screaming bloody murder.  There seems a great deal of sentiment coming from the far left along the lines of Harry Reid taking a pound of flesh from Joe Lieberman for actually thinking for himself.
